Die / Cry / Hate

This is not a call for people to embrace the dark side so much as it is a response to the saccharine (and almost always esthetically offensive) "Live Laugh Love" trope that so many Americans who purchase yard flags seem to enjoy. Because, gross. I'm also posting the original line art, pre-Procreate cleanup.
This is available at the Tough Guy TeePublic store as a shirt, sticker, mug, tote, all that stuff. Show the world that you're not Buscaglian!

Lo-Fi Takes The Streets 2025 poster / tee-shirt

My second year doing the artwork for Jersey City's Low Fidelity Bar's terrific music / food festival, Lo-Fi Takes the Streets. The edict this year was to create a retro spy esthetic, which was not hard for me to get excited about. Here are the final poster and tee-shirt along with alternate logos and some prep work.

Jersey City Flippers tee

The Jersey City Flippers are a pinball league that's been based out of the Jersey City Barcade location since 2017. When the news broke last month that (due to a lease expiration and extreme gentrification) Barcade JC would be closing in June, the Flippers had to acknowledge that (given there's no other venue in town with enough pins to have a tournament) it was time to call it a day.
To commemorate the end of an era, the Flippers asked me to design a commemorative T-shirt, which is available (along with other merch) on my TeePublic page here
The shirt references seven pinball games that have been a part of the legacy of Barcade's game selection:
Taxi, Addams Family, Future Spa, Medieval Madness, Champion Pub, Pulp Fiction, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Lo-Fi Takes the Streets 2024

This year's LO-FI TAKES THE STREETS festival in the Jersey City Heights, put on by the Riverview Neighborhood Association and the Low-Fidelity bar in JC.
Below are the final poster, tee-shirt, an alternate (unused) logo, detail on the Walkmanwoman (I just gave her that name right now, so gimme a break), detail on a tribute to the late, beloved JC fixture, Matt Caputo, sketches of Walkmanwoman (she was initially going to be more sci-fi superhero, then I was asked to "punk her up" a little, then ended up striking a balance between the two), the logo art WIP, and detail on the background location in Jersey City.

Sean Kiely, Don't Stay Gone Too Long T-shirt

I did this tee-shirt design for my very talented friend, Sean Kiely's new record (I also did the logo at the top of his website, so click that link!). Go see him live and grab a shirt! It's a win-win!

Secret Country Owl Tees

Two new tee-shirt / sticker designs for Kearny NJ's Secret Country! As of right now, these are merch table exclusives, but you can get other swell stuff from their online store here (and go see 'em! They're awesome!).
Also pictured are some of the initial sketches. The band liked two of them enough to have both done! Thanks, kids!

Barcade Punk-Man Tee Shirt

It's another Barcade shirt, this time a punk rock themed tee, melding four different elements from punk icons... can you name all four (two are obvious)... You can grab one of these at any location or order it online at Barcade.com
Pictured here is the final design along with the line art and two alternate versions, one without the cross hatching and one with the tag line in the Punk-Man's mouth. Also, I opted to draw the "Barcade" logo by hand rather than try to find the fonts and roughen them to approximate the inspiration. Sometimes doing stuff the old-fashioned way is actually faster than doing it digitally (for me, anyway)!

Barcade NO ROWDIES! Tee-Shirt

My latest tee-shirt design for Barcade is one I've been pushing for years! Pinty the Talking Beer makes his merch debut on this NO ROWDIES! tee. The original design featured Pinty's pal, Tenny (the Talking Ten-Ounce Pour), who is the more stern of the duo, but the owners wanted Pinty, so it got redone (sorry, Tenny). They also felt my hand-drawn logo would work better than the official corporate logo on this design. You can get this shirt at any Barcade location or online at their merch store

Camp Rauchbier T-Shirt

Another super fun project for Beer Edge, a T-Shirt / Sticker design for Camp Rauchbier! It's like a firepit in your mouth! Pictured at top are the final designs, followed by the rough sketch, alternate font choices, and alternate designs. Go get the shirt NOW! It's a limited edition, hurry! If you're looking at this in 2029, you're probably SOL!

Barcade in Space T-Shirt

Hey, it's another T-Shirt design for the Barcade chain! Most of the locations are now up and running again after the long Coronavirus shutdown, but buying merch is a great way to help a small business out during still-difficult times. So go get one
At top is the final design and below are two of the rejected designs / works in progress. This one took a lot of tweaking to get to the final product.

Steal This Beer / Drink Beer, Think Beer Merch

I recently did some designs for some of journalist / podcasters John Holl and Justin Kennedy's numerous beer-themed podcasts, specifically Drink Beer, Think Beer (which dedicates an episode to Rauchbier every April 1st) and Steal This Beer (co-hosted by Augie Carton of the outstanding Carton Brewing Co.), a podcast for which I used to be the unofficial bartender.

Pictured with the final designs are some of the works-in-progress, alternate and rejected designs (I thought the Rauchbier label should have some German on it, but in the end we went all-English). You can purchase this limited edition merch here! (Don't tell them, but I used the Rastal Tumbler to drink some Whistle Pig Straight Rye last night, I cheated!)

Cheers!
