Barcade Family Day

New graphics (and some process and rejected designs) for Barcade's Family Days (which occur at most locations once a month).

First design for family was less cartoony.

Jersey City Flippers tee

The Jersey City Flippers are a pinball league that's been based out of the Jersey City Barcade location since 2017. When the news broke last month that (due to a lease expiration and extreme gentrification) Barcade JC would be closing in June, the Flippers had to acknowledge that (given there's no other venue in town with enough pins to have a tournament) it was time to call it a day.
To commemorate the end of an era, the Flippers asked me to design a commemorative T-shirt, which is available (along with other merch) on my TeePublic page here
The shirt references seven pinball games that have been a part of the legacy of Barcade's game selection:
Taxi, Addams Family, Future Spa, Medieval Madness, Champion Pub, Pulp Fiction, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Barcade Los Angeles posters

A few new posters for Barcade LA, one for a Holiday Gift Drive and one for a Women's Pinball League (two versions, the second one was rejected for being too illegible... you be the judge!)

Barcade Monday Night Multiball Poster

Here's a poster I did for Barcade Los Angeles' bi-weekly pinball tournament, along with the first, rejected version (there was a miscommunication... I thought they wanted it fast, turned out they wanted it hand-drawn!)... at least the logo got to be repurposed.
The characters on the poster are based on figures from the 1972 Williams pinball machine, SWINGER (see sales sheet below).

Barcade Punk-Man Tee Shirt

It's another Barcade shirt, this time a punk rock themed tee, melding four different elements from punk icons... can you name all four (two are obvious)... You can grab one of these at any location or order it online at Barcade.com
Pictured here is the final design along with the line art and two alternate versions, one without the cross hatching and one with the tag line in the Punk-Man's mouth. Also, I opted to draw the "Barcade" logo by hand rather than try to find the fonts and roughen them to approximate the inspiration. Sometimes doing stuff the old-fashioned way is actually faster than doing it digitally (for me, anyway)!

Barcade NO ROWDIES! Tee-Shirt

My latest tee-shirt design for Barcade is one I've been pushing for years! Pinty the Talking Beer makes his merch debut on this NO ROWDIES! tee. The original design featured Pinty's pal, Tenny (the Talking Ten-Ounce Pour), who is the more stern of the duo, but the owners wanted Pinty, so it got redone (sorry, Tenny). They also felt my hand-drawn logo would work better than the official corporate logo on this design. You can get this shirt at any Barcade location or online at their merch store

Jersey City Flippers poster

This has nothing to do with real estate. Here's a poster done for the New Jersey pinball league, the Jersey City Flippers!

Barcade in Space T-Shirt

Hey, it's another T-Shirt design for the Barcade chain! Most of the locations are now up and running again after the long Coronavirus shutdown, but buying merch is a great way to help a small business out during still-difficult times. So go get one
At top is the final design and below are two of the rejected designs / works in progress. This one took a lot of tweaking to get to the final product.

Best of the Barcade Boards

This is a sampling of photos of my hand-lettered chalkboard work for Barcade, mostly culled from four posts on the original Tough Guy page (see here for the other four).

Barcade Jersey City 7th Anniversary Poster

Barcade EATS Sign

These are different designs for a hanging lighted sign at the Jersey City Barcade location. Sadly, when the kitchen window closed in favor of table service, this sign was retired. Boo.
